The Think Bottle Blog was created to gather great art, ideas, and inspiration into one place. I hope you get inspired to take a chance and dive into something of your own. Plus it’s a great place to interact with me on a daily basis. Cheers!
1,000 Fan Rally! (Win This Original)

It worked so well before that I thought I’d try it again.
One of my favorite things about having you come over for a visit is that I get to float a balloon now and then, so you can take pot shots. Sometimes I get questions like: “why do I do this or why do I do that?” It’s instructional and even therapeutic, especially when I get to hear your comments because, honestly, most of the time I don’t know why I do what I do.
Is it a habit like biting my nails? Or is it possibly a deeper organic malady like elephantitis; when at any moment I might sprout a trunk. Maybe I’m just tri-polar and a nice green tea will suffice, who knows! At the very least I can get some assurance that I’m not totally out of my wig. I may never get to the bottom of it but it’s interesting to noodle just the same.
So to that end, here’s the plan:
One Facebook fan will win a signed original and five runners-up will receive a signed print. Here's how to enter!
1) Write a message under my Facebook post titled "1,000 Fan Rally".
2) Share this post with all your friends on Facebook.
3) Cross your fingers.
My goal is 1,000 fans by the end of this month. Too ambitious? I hope not but let’s see…
Remember...you can't win unless you share this!
Cheers! DC

I’m a children’s book illustrator as well. During my school visits, students ask me, “Mark, who is one of your favorite children’s book illustrators?” I answer, “Do you know David Catrow? He is amazing! When I grow up I want to draw like him!”
I created 320 original illustrations for children’s books last year. Several hang in my office. Having a “David Catrow Original” would be a great honor and inspiration!
Whomever wins, enjoy! Drawing is a gift that must be shared. Where better do that than through children’s books.

I LOVE your artwork! I am a huge fan. I am an artist myself who appreciates your sense of humor and color usage. So do my elementary students. Keep creating and making picture books so captivating to read!

I just want to say that your artwork is amazing. I’m a graphic designer and I’m always looking at books that catch my attention for my daughter and I to draw from. She’s 9 and loves to draw from your books as do I. I want to thank for sharing your artistic talent with everyone and for inspiring my daughter as well.

My 3 year old daughter LOVES your drawings and your books - and so do my older girls! My youngest loves to talk about the dog being in time out on the stairs in Ain’t Gonna Paint No More. Thank you for inspiring my three girls and their love of reading. I look forward to meeting you when you come to Dayton next month!

Hi David. I’m a big fan of your work. I was just telling someone today that I love your work. He showed me the new Weird Al picture book, and I immediately thought your artwork would have been perfect for it - you’re both so fun & zany. Congrats on continued success.

Hi David,
I am getting ready to do a display of your books at the library, any suggestions or information that you want to pass onto your younger fans?

Thank you so much for creating exciting and varied works for the IREAD Midsummer Knight’s Read theme. Also, having read your bio on your speaker site, I totally agreed with your fat crayons/kindergarten “art” and selected my daughter’s K in large part due to the lack of fat crayons and that they let me come in to teach actual art where no one’s looked the same.

thank you beth- it’s heartening to know that art continues to live in the schools- it sounds like you are on the front lines fighting for individual expression… well done!

I am in love with your print for the DOD’s summer reading program. It is a peek into a fantastical world that I would love to see more of. Unfortunately my children do not want to give up their puzzles so I could laminate one and hang it up. Is there anywhere to find a print of “A Midsummer Knight’s Read”?

You recently visited my daughter’s school ; Trinity Oaks Elementary. Unfortunately Daddy did not get the note from school that you were coming and was unable to get his little girl a book from you. I travel 2 weeks out of the month but stay in touch on skype with my daughter; Danushka. She wrote me one evening while I was in Ohio flying…I hope you don’t mind the long post…
“im eating dinner now
write back to me
tell me what you would watch on tv now
wake up
when you see david catrow tell him it was fun having him at my school and ask him if he will sign a book just for me and even if you have to pay alot of money please get me a book from david catrow and tell him i hope he can come to trinity oaks again and tell him to please ship a picture that he drew and tell himm to buy lots of girl scout cookies for me
i am sorry that was like a story
bye
“
I thought you should see what one of your fans thinks about you. She enjoyed your visit thoroughly.
I would love nothing better than to buy a few of your books and if possible have you sign them for her. Is this a possibility? Danuska loves to read and i want to continue to encourage that.
Regards,
Sean Broadbent
